SWEET & NASTY BURLESQUE 10pm Every Sunday at 332 E. 11th St. (between 1st & 2nd Ave.) GETTING BOOKED FOR A SWEET & NASTY SHOW: 1. COME SEE THE SHOW We can't stress this enough. Check out what we're doing every week. You'll be able to make sure that your act fits Sweet & Nasty, and that ours is a show you want to be a part of. We rarely book people we haven't met or seen perform, although we will make exceptions for established out-of-town performers. After the show, introduce yourself, and offer to... 2. HELP US OUT A great way for new people to get involved is to volunteer to stamp hands at the door, or clear the stage during a show. You'll help us keep the night running smoothly, and also get to see how the show runs, meet performers, and get a sense of what things are like backstage. Once you've done this, we may ask you to... 3. AUDITION We'll give you a newcomer slot in a fully-booked show. You'll get a chance to strut your stuff in front of our audience, and we'll have a chance to see what you've got. If we like what we see... 4. WE'LL BOOK YOU! There's a lot of great talent out there, and we only have so many slots, so most new performers get booked once every 3-4 months. If you don't hear from us for a while, drop by a show and say hello again. Burlesque Educator Extraordinaire JO BOOBS has a highly recommended article about how to get booked, which outlines some helpful do's and don'ts. You need to join her Yahoo Group to read it, a great resource for any new performer. |
